Ashley Britton on Legacy Planning at the Mount Vernon FEC
Ashley Britton is the program manager at the Mount Vernon Financial Empowerment Center, which recently launched a free legacy planning program for Westchester County residents. The initiative, backed by the City of Mount Vernon, Westchester County, Mercy University and the National Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, aims to close a gap where roughly 70 percent of Americans have no will or estate plan. Britton talked with Jim about what a first counseling session looks like, why the center calls the work counseling rather than paperwork, and its plan to bring financial workshops directly into workplaces and faith organizations through a new outreach effort called FEC at Work.
